AzadMedica (incorporated in 2019)is a  Canadian Contract Research Organization (CRO) providing  professional and technical consultancy in Pharma, Medical Devices, and  Health-Tech applications and research projects.  We are advocating for democratizing digital health  platforms, and Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCT) at local, regional, national, and global scale. We're  building bridges by connecting the right people, processes, and technologies, promoting public-private-partnerships (PPP) alliance, and collaborative advocacy between industry stakeholders, and our most valuable clients, our patients (The Public).  Our vision is creating and fostering a "Research & Innovation HUB", a center of excellence in digital health technology  for our region, bringing the innovation closer to home!

Sassan Azad, M.Sc., ACRP-CP, PMP, Sr. MSL

Sassan is a certified project manager (PMP), a Medical Affairs Professional (MSL) and a Certified Clinical Research Professional (ACRP-CP), who received his double B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science,  & Entomology & Vector Control, M.Sc. in Clinical Biochemistry, as well as certification from Clinical Epidemiology Institute, Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto (UoT). 

Sassan has 25+ years of  working experience starting from basic research & diagnostics> translational research > clinical research operations > and currently as CRO leadership position, building bridges between  all stakeholders in research and innovation space. Sassan co-founded AzadMedica in 2019  and currently serving as company's Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Managing Partner & COO.

Sassan is a member of Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS), Med-Tech Focus Area Working Group (FAWG), and MAPS Canadian Chapter.

Sassan is also a certified member (ACRP-CP) of Association for Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) and an executive member of ACRP Canadian Chapter.

Azar Azad, PhD, MLD

Azar received her medical laboratory doctorate and her Ph.D. in clinical biochemistry. She worked as Assistant Professor and director of the research laboratory in the Center of Cardiovascular Disease. She started her Post-doc training at the University of Toronto with a major focus on angiogenesis and revascularization in the cardiovascular system, evaluating molecular pathways. She accepted the role of Co-Director for the Banting and Best Diabetes Center (BBDC) Core Laboratory and joined the pathology and laboratory medicine department at Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) soon after. Azar joined the scientific staff at MSH and UofT, and as the business development officer supported the incorporation of Mount Sinai Services Inc. (MSS), a for-profit company spun out of MSH. Her leadership and unwavering dedication have been instrumental in helping MSS to grow into a successful and profitable organization. She has provided vision, strategic direction, and exceptional business development acumen. Azar led the MSS team in securing ISO 15189 certification – a first for a Canadian research lab (per IQMH). In 2015 their second company, iTP Biomedica Inc. has been incorporated. Azar was one of the cofounders and the Chief Operating Officer. Azar is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and has regulatory certifications as an auditor for medical devices and ISO. She has a track record of achieving FDA and Health Canada approval for medical devices and assay/platforms. As a serial entrepreneur, Azar started A.I. VALI Inc. in 2017, offering AI computational analysis for medical images, including endoscopy video streams and tissue Image Mass Cytometry (IMC). She joined the AzadMedica team as the Co-Founder  and Managing Partner in 2019.
